Wow, this piece made a real impression on me. Thank you for sharing your story. I also have hated the idea of divorce — not because I’ve experienced it personally, but in part because I’ve seen it nearly kill a friend (literally).

So I was intrigued by your headline and story. I really appreciate your point, that God cares about us more than he’s disappointed when we make bad choices. I’m not sure I’m at the point where I fully believe God loves me more than he hates my sin…right now, I think I’m more at the point of “he loves me AS MUCH AS he hates my sin.” In other words, He loves me — and that’s why He hates sin, because it hurts me.

I know at the core, this article is about love overcoming legalism, which I am ALL FOR. I think I’m still learning to distinguish between legalism (always bad) and healthy discipline (always good). I’m definitely going to be thinking about your article some more, and sharing it too. Thanks for your hard work!
